About the Authors

Gary Slapper, LLB, LLM, PhD, PGCE (HE), is Professor of Law and Director of the Law Programme at The Open University. Professor Slapper read Law at University College London and studied for his doctorate at the London School of Economics. He is UK representative of the International Bar Association's Academics' Forum. He has published widely in academic journals and is a regular legal columnist in The Times.

David Kelly, BA, BA (Law), PhD, is Principal Lecturer in Law at Staffordshire University. Dr Kelly read Law at the University of Kent, has published widely, and is Director of the Course for Critical Legal Studies at Staffordshire.

In addition to English Law, Gary and David also co-write The English Legal System and Q&A on the English Legal System 5th edition, also published by Routledge-Cavendish.
